One of the most significant opportunities facing the beef industry today is improving the consumer eating experience. Despite decades of genetic progress, tenderness remains one of the top concerns of beef consumers. We are addressing this issue head-on through a breakthrough DNA technology known as Tenet, developed by Callipyge Genetics LLC.

With advanced genomic testing, Tenet identifies cattle that are genetically guaranteed to be tender with 99% accuracy. Employing the industry-standard Warner–Bratzler shear force test for validation, the Tenet scoring system ranks beef on a scale of T1–T10, with the average American beef animal ranking as a T3 or T4. In contrast, a Tenet-certified animal ranks a remarkable T9 or T10—a difference that consumers definitely appreciate.

When we submitted bulls for testing alongside nearly 400 of the high use AI sires from some of the most prominent bull studs in the country, only 2% of those AI sires qualified as Tenet. Our results were nothing short of extraordinary: 35% of our bulls qualified as Tenet, more than fifteen times the industry average in addition to being the first Sim influenced cattle to do so. This year alone, over 80 Tenet-certified bulls will be available in our annual bull sale.

The implications are enormous. We believe Tenet represents a true game changer for the beef industry—one we hope will become a mainstream tool for improving beef quality, consistency, and consumer confidence for generations to come.
